my ccie story

how i was started the ccie!

ok let start from where i know about CISCO.
i was recommended by one of my closed friend, visal to learn the cisco academy at Nida.
i remember at that time, we learned with Mr.Soktak, as an instructor. i feel i did not gain any thing, i just read the book, and take the exam, if i passed, i go to the next module. if i passed all the module, i will complete the ccna 1. i did not mean the instructor is not good, but i feel i don't have mind set to set-up the study.

at that time, i was in the end of 2nd year at RULE. my major is Economic and Information System. some kind of Economic and information technology combination major.
for 2 year, i spend in the university, i wonder, what will i do after i graduate.
!
so after finish 2nd year, i decide to go oversea university as the scholarship student.
i move to china in 2005, and start my new class again. i start from 1st year again, fresh year.
!
that year, was where i started! new thing, new class, new friendS, new place, and new style.
one day, i heard someone said, in the university we have one american who used to work in Cisco for 8 year. His name is, Bryan Miller, CCIE #2433. i know Cisco is big company, but i don't know how great to work in cisco or experience with cisco.

so i try my best, to get in touch with him. he is a great person, kind and contribute. after i meet him, and understand more about career in Cisco, that is the thing where i start to think about ccie and heard about CCIE. he explained why he choose this career, why he like it, and where did he start. after get a whole understanding, i get the whole picture why he persue CCIE, why he was admired by cisco. that story happen in 2006. this is the point, where i have a big picture that i want to persue the ccie after having very long conversation with the cisco expertise.
!
we keep in touch, keep writing an email. he shows me how to start, where to start.
so i start read the about networking. my first cisco book is, CCNA book by todd lammle. i start doing some research about ccna, ccna materials, how to take ccna exam. i start to think how to approach the ccna, what technology cover.
after 6 month of self learning about ccna, i feel the road is so blind, i just doing on the book, question. i feel it is not cool to do that way.

so i started to do the bootcamp training. at that time, i don't have budget for training, and i also don't want to borther my parent for asking for money for training. i don't have a choice, but to find a job. i counld not find a job, so it is impossible to go for bootcamp. so i ring my uncle, who work and have income already. i call him, asking for borrowing money for my bootcamp. then my uncle tell my Mum about this story, so after my parent know it, they collect money for me for the bootcamp. i train in Yawei training center, Beijing. i rent a room under the ground, and eat noodle almost every night, so it cheap and i can save some money.

i go for training in the place where i know nothing about it. so i stay in Beijing for 2 month. i train ccna & ccnp, because i don't have enough budget to go ccie bootcamp. they train 8 hour a day, monday to friday. 4 hour for theory, and 2-4 hour for lab.

i did not learn alot of knowledge from them, because it is all in chinese, and at that time, i just know chinese only 1.5 year. i could not understand at all what they explain. but it is very very benifit to me, to show what approach they take, mind set of learning, what material they use, what device they lab. i get only 20% from the bootcamp, because of my poor chinese. but i get 100% self learning approach, information, material that cover, in order to get ccna, and ccnp. at that time, it is in summer, 2007.

after the bootcamp, i back to university, and do my own self learning, using thier materials, and i pass ccna in dec 2007, and get ccnp in april 2008. after geting ccnp, i feel it is not cool, just the paper exam with few flash stimulation lab.

so i start to think about ccie, and with the resource i have, could i pass the ccie.
!
so i decide to go for ccie. i have some friend who i know when we do the bootcamp together, we keep in touch with each other.
he also on his way to get ccie. so we start to prepare ccie together but 2 different style, i do ccie by self learning, and he do his ccie by learning with the bootcamp. surely, he will become ccie very soon, because there are alot of expert in the bootcamp that guide him to pass ccie. the reason i did not go to ccie bootcamp, because i dont have money. it is so expensive to do ccie bootcamp. so in october 2009, he passed ccie.
!
i read a lot of ciscopress book, from ccna level up to ccie level, read technology paper in cisco website, doing some lab. i passed ccie written exam in october 2009. after passing ccie written exam, i practise a ton of Lab. i keep doing it until i passed the ccie lab today. i also run some forum, discusing about networking, ccna, ccnp and ccie. when i found good topic, i
alway post in the forum to share with other.

practise is the key, keep practise practise practise is the success.

ccie lab devide into 2 section, the trobleshooting section( 2 hours) and the configuration section ( 6 hour), totally 8hour lab.
in order to get the ccie certificate, you have to pass both the ccie written exam and the ccie lab exam.

the whole story is one goal, "i want to start my career as the expertise level."

I feel a little bit sad because of lack of interests what the discussion is going on but that is okay. I understand that. I am happy for you that you have made up your mind finally.
